Increased FOV Mod

Encogen is working on an increased FOV mod, and has a test version uploaded.

He would really love some feedback, so please leave any comments and suggestions here on this post for him.

Also, there seems to be a bug with the wardrobe clothing color mod I released the other day where stores no longer let you color items or select logos. I have an idea why that happened and will look into a fix for it soon.

    Goooood Job.

This is installed by putting it into the \optional_mod_stuff\1-MODDERS_-_PUT_YOUR_OWN_PERSONAL_MODS_HERE folder, btw. Just thought I’d add that, since it wasn’t obvious to me.

This works pretty well so far, and I’ve not had any problems with it.

After months of posting how to do that with every single optional mod in every single post, I kind of figured that people knew how by now. ;)

    So what is this for?

  4. Dayv says:

    Hi, questions
One double question for the alternate FOV maker:
Can you make the weapon visible while aiming (FPS) and make it “more to the left” ? Thank you.

And now 3 questions for IdolNinja:
1st: Is making new logos (I mean putting it in the game) difficult? (I’m not really gifted in programming or whatever it is.)

2nd: Could I (Or better You :D ) make logos on Basic-T etc. smaller and on the neck instead of the big one on the back?

And finally, the 3rd: Is there any way to make new fight style? By that i mean, would it be very difficult or really imposible?

(By the way, in GoTR 1.9 beta 15, tats in wardrobe gets blue. I didn’t see anyone speaking of that nor did i find any bug report, so i report here, if it doesn’t mind.)
    Thank you. ;)

    • IdolNinja says:

      1. Making new logos requires good Photoshop (or other image app) skills. You would also need to be able to use the modding tools to extract and repackage the files. It’s definitely not easy, but it’s also not as difficult as programming or scripting.

      2. There is no way to do any kind of positioning adjustment for any textures yet.

      3. There is no way to make a new fight style since that would involve creating new animations. The tools we have for the game are unfortunately extremely limited.

The tattoo turning blue problem is a known issue, and also happens in vanilla, and even on console versions. I tried to fix it back when we first identified the problem but have had no success. It’s a problem inherent with the game itself rather than anything with the mod.

    • encogen says:

I do want to make it visible, but it depends on whether I’ll be able to avoid character taking half of the screen or not. There are also a couple of other hiccups concerning the overall third-person camera I want to iron out.

      • IdolNinja says:

I have to say that I don’t particularly care for the fine aim mode making your character disappear. It might work better if you could actually see the gun like a fps but I don’t think that’s possible from the tests I did a while back with z_dist. Once you get that close the body just goes transparent.

        • encogen says:

Yeah, this one seems to be hardcoded. I’ve tried going into the negative on the Z-axis, but the game seemingly ignores the minus sign and works only in one direction.

Greate mods im working on all of saints row 1 mod so far I see redrage plays it since he model the guns in there ima model the saints row 1 animation anyone care to help?

    • IdolNinja says:

      @zl LiQuiD lz
No one modeled anything. All of those meshes and textures were already in the game files. We do not have mesh/modeling tools. I’m not sure how you plan on working with the animations since we don’t have tools for that either.

I was wondering if Suit.Default was what i need to edit to get the variant of Johnny Gat in His Suit

  7. Zach Robinson says:

am i in the right spot?

    • IdolNinja says:

No idea. You’re probably going to want to look at the npc_gat.xtbl file which should mirror the hex edited one. You are also going to have to experiment with this stuff yourself and find out.

      • Zach Robinson says:

and if i did how would i put meshes.vpp_pc back to one file

        • IdolNinja says:

You wouldn’t repack meshes. You would build your changed file into patch.vpp_pc. The contents of patch.vpp_pc loads last and will overwrite anything else from other files. All changes to any file should always go into patch.vpp_pc.

Also, you would find npc_gat.xtbl in your common.vpp_pc.

          • Zach Robinson says:

then why did i extract meshes.vpp_pc

          • IdolNinja says:

Because that’s where the original ctvf files are? I’m not sure why you’re having a hard time understanding this…

meshes.vpp_pc contains the file you need to edit: npc_gat.cvtf
            You edit that file
You build it back into patch.vpp_pc with the rest of your mods

            That’s it.

patch.vpp_pc can have ANY file in it from ANY vpp_pc file. That new modded file with your changes will overwrite the ORIGINAL one on load.

          • Zach Robinson says:

sorry but at first you said to look under npc_gat_cvtf now your saying to look under npc_gat.xtbl im sorry but its kinda confusing me i think i got it ill quit bugging you about it now

          • IdolNinja says:

npc_gat.xtbl was what was used by Volition to compile the npc_gat.cvtf. So you can look at the npc_gat.xtbl in notepad as kind of a template and match it up to the cvtf file to see what you might be able to try and hex edit in the cvtf.

Hi i was wondering if there is any fix to the mission airborne assault after the cut scene it turns black you only hear ambient sounds can anyone help me with this ?

          • IdolNinja says:

It’s a common problem with that mission even on consoles. You just have to keep retrying the mission until it works.

  8. Zach Robinson says:

    all i see is npc_gat.cmesh_pc/ npc_gat.cvtf/npc_gat.g_cmesh_pc/ npc_gat.morph_pc/npc_gat.pcm_pc/npc_gat.sim_pc

  9. DonCorleone says:

so idol, on another note you never got back on whether there is a way to increase the number of homies following you? or did you (i have terrible memory) :D
