Powertools Users! We Need Your Help!

Here’s your chance to help us make Saints Row 2 on PC even better!

Minimual is currently working on enhancing Powertools to automatically run at the correct speed without having to mess with a percentage value in the ini. Many of the random crashes and disconnects while playing coop and multi seem to be a direct result of the sync drifting further off from each player as the coop session progressed. If Mini can automatically get the values working, it should eliminate all sync issues in coop and make the game much more stable.

All you need to do is head over to Minimaul’s site and grab the latest test beta of Powertools, install it, run SR2, and finally email him the log file it generates. It couldn’t be any easier, and this quick effort will help him get all the info he needs to make this work.

We’re counting on you! Thanks!

Just saw this, Idol – of course we’ll help! Any fans of Saints Row 2 out there should chip in and help Minimual get all the data he needs.

For sure, grabbing the program now, do you need it with beta 13 of 1.9 installed? Will run it and email the log once I get a reply with what is needed.

*The program can’t start because d3dx9_43.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

( but weirdly enough my game still works fine) ….

Powertools does a few things. The most important is that it fixes the Windows 7 speedup bug where players with a cpu that is faster or slower than 3.2Ghz have their game running way too fast. The further your cpu is from 3.2Ghz, the worse the speedup is. It also has tools for modders like realtime coordinate display and print debug for scripts.

thanks man your like my idol i love how you can choose sort of what you want now! i love the nukes lol a flamingo best idea yet man keep it up!

Iv’e been experiencing problems with the villian homies a lot on trying to call Julius for some reason i have to go back and recreate the patch without the villian homies then to go back and instead call Aisha then save the game then go back and recreate the patch with the villian homies is their a way to fix it?

    • IdolNinja says:

That’s weird. So what happens exactly when you try to call Julius? Game crashes? He doesn’t show up? What?

      • Zach Robinson says:

He doesn’t show up at all

        • Jon says:

From my experiments with replacing models in the game, homies just don’t show up if there is a model error. Try unpacking the meshes.vpp_pc and see if the proper Julius models are in there. It’s a longshot, but I can base this off of personal experience so it’s not wild guessing.

          • IdolNinja says:

That’s definitely not the issue. The Julius npc works fine in the bonus mission, and I also tested it myself with the villain homie pack. More than likely it’s a problem with how the npc is defined in the _cha or _pre file, or possibly a preload issue.

As I mentioned, it’s on my to do list and I’ll be looking at it once my ankle heals up and I’m off these meds.

I love being smart … it was a simple problem … i think
I just removed everything but the file it created & the protools files

  10. Zach Robinson says:

Thank you and by the way is their a way to put in the short necklace that some pimps and some Executive have

  11. SuPR0Na says:

    before i had this file ( detoured.dll ) & protools
every thing was working just great… but idk what it is so i tryed removing it, & it like buddy up top but my game now runs just like the previous version of protools updates.

  12. InnocentSam says:

I sprained my ankle and it’s in bloody AGONY. So now I can get an approximate idea of your pain.

    Ouch that must hurt.

  13. Jon says:

    @Innocent Sam
Well now I know step one to becoming a successful SR2 modder:
    Injure your ankle.

  14. Zach Robinson says:

I tried everything i could possibly do nothing worked

  15. Zach Robinson says:

    thank you for your time

    • IdolNinja says:

I removed the restrictions on short chain flat 2 and it works fine now with a coat and/or on other clothing. You may have done something wrong when you built it. The fix will be in the next beta.

  16. InnocentSam says:

Got into another Warriors fad, expect gang mods.

  17. Degree says:

What is the log file it generates? And Does it CTD anyone else’s game after the intro cutscene or two?

    • IdolNinja says:

Like it says right on the page:
“E-mail your Powertools.log and system-info.txt files to me at minimaul@saintsrowpowertools.com.”

Did it work correctly with the stable release of powertools, and it’s only now crashing with this new test release? Did you go through the troubleshooting steps in the FAQ regarding Powertools and crashing on cutscenes?

Specifically updating your Direct X libraries to the latest version, running windowed, and making absolutely certain that you are using the Steam version of SR2. Powertools will not work correctly with anything other than the encrypted Steam version of SR2.

  18. paul says:

site is down cant acces it the powertools site

  19. generalm13 says:

Mailed him my logs just now, hoping he can make powertools better so me and my GF can play a SR2 coop soon without the game running so damn fast,

by the by: hope your ankle is doing better Idol, ttyl on steam soon i hope :)

  20. DonC says:

lets say you and your partner are in 2 different choppers (tornados) we cant lock our missles on 2 each other right? is there any way of taking that off so we CAN hit each other? i think it would give way for some epic battles above the skies of stillwater !

my freind and I are always trying those kinds of epic air battles with planes (dogfights :P )

    • IdolNinja says:

Interesting idea. I was also thinking about enabling the ability to take hostage and throw your partner in coop too. Maybe as part of an optional “asshole” mod along with your idea. lol.

      • DonC says:

        whats your problem?

        • IdolNinja says:

What do you mean? Problem with what?

Wait, did you think I was calling you an asshole? No, I mean “asshole mod” in the sense that the mod would allow the player to be an asshole to his coop partner. i.e. being able to throw them, locking on with missiles, etc.
