Where the Hell are my GotR Updates?!

This is just a quick note to everyone following progress on GotR that I broke my ankle a couple of weeks ago, and it’s kind of stalled progress on the mod while I heal. These past couple of weeks have been a hazy blur of industrial strength painkillers, and I’m having a hard time focusing on anything.

I do have an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon this week to see what kind of options I have, so we’ll see what he has to say. In the meantime, please keep on testing v1.9 beta 13 and letting me know about any bugs that pop up. I am adding them to my TO DO list as they’re reported and will be taking care of them once I can think clearly again.

    I dont know if its the mod or what, but doing escort, when the client wants me to do damage to other vehicles, the damage doesnt progress, making it impossible to complete the diversion if the damage thingy pops up.

      Just tested and the damage part in Escort works perfectly, just as it did before. You do realize you have to ram cars (not news vans) with your car to get the 1000 points of damage. It doesn’t count when you shoot them.

    hey IdolNinja, I just got this Idea of puting the Police Cruiser Vilyls onto some of the sports cars and maybe some muchle car so they look like the police cars from the NFS series :) would be awesome if thats possible ;)

      That would be pretty cool. Small problem though… we can’t edit the attach points for where textures (decals) go on a car. It seems to be part of the mesh itself and we don’t have the tools to work with them. So we’re stuck with only being able to edit existing ones. That would mean side doors only for most of the muscle cars, sorry.

        idol ninja i had an idea of using texmod to swap the textures in the game with out modifying the game yherefore you could swap vinyls on cars during launching the texmod and when you turn it off everything would comeback to normal saints row

          That idea with texmod would result in the exact same thing we already have using the current tools. There are no “vinyls” for cars. The textures are small decals. The rest of the body of a car is just in-game color and NOT a texture.

      You don’t understand. I can’t mod the muscle cars except a small area on the doors. I would also have to replace existing textures to make it work. It just can’t happen with the tools we have available.

    I’ve been wondering. How do you make vibrant permanent? I hate having to turn it on every time I want to play.

      You can change the Chance tags in weather.xtbl so that Vibrant procs at 100 and the other weather condition proc much less. You may also need to add Vibrant to the Next_Stage_List for each weather condition. This list is the acceptable weather conditions that can follow the current one.

    Theres a glitch with every black tattoo that I buy, when I load a save the tattoos equipped are still black but in the wardrobe there grey….also is it possible to have a johnny gat neck tattoo? Sorry to bother, get well soon ;)

      The tattoo color issue exists in vanilla SR2, and was even confirmed to happen on the console versions. I took a look at it a while ago, but couldn’t see any way to correct it.

      Unfortunately, the neck tattoo crashes the game when enabled. I haven’t been able to find a way to make that work either.

    In the beta 13 thread I mentioned some D-stroy bugs. To be exact:
    - The beam-up animation when you embark is not playing. You just teleport inside.
    - When you land and get out, you are likely to get stuck inside (depends on angle etc). You can only free yourself by getting out your sword and bashing the ufo away. Here’s a screenshot:

    Also, there is the hair bug where going to the head submenu at the plastic surgeon turns your hair bright white no matter what colour it had originally. When you change it to something else, it becomes white again when you tab out of the head submenu. You have to change your hair back and literally leave on that menu to preserve it.

      I can’t reproduce the hair problem. I switched back and forth from the dyed white without an issue. Dyed it, saved, reloaded, tried other colors, saved, etc. It will not do that for me. It may be a problem with your save file itself.

      I was able to reproduce the D-Stroy problem though and am working to fix it.

    I noticed something while playing the game. It may be possible to create a vehicle god mode cheat…

    Get 5 starts and take a taxi. While you’re riding in the taxi, the coppers will keep bashing the car with their Interceptors and whatnot, but the taxi will never truly explode. Every door and window will be blown out, but it won’t blow up. Alternately, the limo in the last Samedi mission is indestructible.

    My theory is that the script may deny vehicle damage after a certain point(assuming those two instances use the same scripts). If this is the case, you may be able to make a cheat out of it that applies to whatever car the player is driving…

      Interesting idea, but just not possible. A mission is simply one long scripted sequence where the lua script lets you manipulate individual entities like a specific car or npc. It’s extremely easy to make an entity take no damage (like the limo.) The open world is a completely different animal though. The only thing we have access to is a limited set of global values to change. Open world is NOT scripted where we can make changes like that. Also, cheats are mostly hardcoded in the exe. We cannot add a new style cheat, but merely work within the boundaries of cheats that are already defined.

    First of all, thanks for all the work you and the other modders have done on this game! Second- A question- Is it possible to use the Saints Row 2 Handling Mod and the Gentlemen of the Row Super Mod at the same time/together? They both replace the patch.vpp_pc file

      The handling mod has been included as an optional mod in the latest v1.9 beta with the creator’s blessing. You can grab it from the download page. :)

      I have no idea what you’re even talking about. You will need to purchase Saints Row 2 for PC, install it, download the Gentlemen of the Row mod, and finally install the GotR mod on top of the regular version. You really should purchase SR2 from Steam (or boxed from Amazon which installs on Steam anyway) since that’s the only way you’ll be fully patched and compatible to the final 1.2 patch level. All other digital distribution methods are stuck at the old 1.1 patch level which has serious performance and AI issues.

    First, the work I’ve seen so far is excellent. I hope this doesn’t come off rude by asking, but I’m interested in keeping the classic movement styles. Would you tell me where those are? I found the menu change, but not the actual file that contains the movement styles themselves.

      NM. I figured it out. I looked at what discussion was made about the Walk ‘N’ Taunt Mod and pieced it together.
