I spent some time last night and today going over my TO DO list and knocked out a few. Here’s some of the new Gentlemen of the Row fixes and updates coming in the next beta release:
- Fixed Rapid Fire Taser – The cops now have a much longer refire delay on the stun gun. The result is that they no longer continuously zap you over and over when you’re trying to get up. You should have at least 10-15 seconds after you rise before they fire again to give you a chance to escape.
- Fixed Fleur De Lys logos – I completely redid the original game’s 256×256 fleur de lys logo so that it no longer looks weird from a distance. The 128×128 one was also redone so it doesn’t look ugly as hell with jaggies. Thanks SOMEDUDE for pointing out that issue in the comments.
- Added encogen’s new Pimp graphic to the gamespy logo screen on startup
- Fixed the medical latex gloves so they no longer obscure the wrist slots. This means bracelets and other wrist items are now visible over them.
- Fixed some naming problems for the Lara Croft Legend outfit (no longer LegendS) and the Gyro Daddy unlock statistic text in the menu. Thanks encogen for the heads up on those.
- Adjusted and lowered (again) the Volition Gift Shop pricing. Each vehicle is now $500,000 instead of $800,000. There is also a pretty huge discount if you own the store, plus ownership generates a huge amount of cash a day now to balance out the initial investment. This should give the player much more money to play with at end game for high ticket items.
- Integrated the new fast weapon switching mod that I’ve talked about in the last couple of posts. I really love this mod so very much. It speeds things up tremendously when using a controller, especially while driving and switching weapons.
I will probably be releasing a new beta soon with these. I may also include the work in progress custom missions for feedback (no promises though!)
One last note, I also added links on the Download page to the Beta Version page for GotR, and the source mods folder so people don’t have to hunt through old news posts for them.
Taser refire rate fix sounds good. Many were the situations when those bastards kept tasing me on wakeup, re-stunning over and over again.
Speaking of obscured slots, Hippie shirt sold at On The Rag obscures both wrist an hand slots. Intended? While some gloves and wristbands would indeed cause clipping with the shirt’s sleeves, a good bunch of others won’t.
There’s also metal bracelet sold at Nobody Loves Me – it’s available for only one of the wrists, yet I think I saw it someplace else available for both. Could be my imagination though.

I’m not sure about the hippie shirt. I’ll take a look though. I wasn’t involved with the changes to gloves and wrist slots so I’m not sure what happened there. I’ll take a look at the bracelet as well. Thanks!

The metal bracelet you mentioned is “women’s metallic wrist band left.” There is no “right hand” version of that particular item. This particular item was a unique npc item worn only by Jessica that was added in.
Regarding the hippie shirt, you may be looking at an older version of the mod. I just checked with the latest build and the hippie shirt does not obscure the wrist or gloves slots. Both items show up ok (though longer ones do clip through.)
BTW,
The EMT patch and pilot’s hat are both disabled. Could you see if you can enable them in the next version? Also, could you see if you can enable changes to the Mule’s decals?

I tried everything I could think of to get the EMT patch and pilot hat working, but both just crash the game. I have no idea why.
What exactly is a Mule?

The Mule is the mover truck. It shows up a lot in the Factories and Truck Yard districts, and is the truck you drive at the end of mission rn01.

Ah, that’s right. I forgot about that truck. I never even attempted to customize one so never noticed the decal customization being missing. I’ll see what I can do.

Just wondering if you could make it possible to dual wield the T3K Urban again, cause that was one of my favorite guns.

The alt mesh for it has a problem with the left hand positioning and it rides up too high when you double wield. That’s why it was changed to only single wield.
Ahhhh i see. Well another question, Gat has tattoos on his neck i was wondering if it was possible to use those, or Mr. Sunshine’s face paint?

The facepaint has serious issues and crashes the game when enabled. None of us could get it working and I tried for weeks since I’m a huge fan of Mr. Sunshine and wanted those really bad.
I think there was a problem with Gat’s tattoo as well, but I can’t remember exactly what it was. I’ll look through the files and see if it rings any bells.

Well two more questions. How would one go about modding the walking style because I have a total of 9 characters, which would lead me to my next question, would it be possible to name saves like after their names or something.

There’s no way I can think of to rename saves like that.
Changing walking styles is a bit complicated. Especially if you’re trying to do that with GotR. The reason is that the preloads are completely full and it took a lot of juggling around of animation to get everything working right. What exactly are you trying to do with the walks? Something new you had in mind?

Undoing those walk changes is going to be fairly complicated and you will need a good working knowledge of winmerge and comparing files along with how the animation files are setup. You would also need to do some extensive testing to make sure that it doesn’t break other animation in the game after their removal.
It would also take a serious effort on my part to try and explain it all and lay it out for you with everything you have to do. I will do it if you think you are up to the challenge though.
