A judge has ruled that the THQ sale to Clearwater is not legal, and other companies should have the ability to purchase them. An auction has been announced for January 22, and studios such as Electronic Arts and Warner Brothers will be bidding. The potentially bad news is that all of THQ’s assets are up for bidding individually, so it’s possible that the Saints Row franchise could be sold to one company, while Volition is sold to another.
Well, let’s hope Saints Row and Volition stay together, and that they are picked up by a publisher that treats it fairly AKA not EA
volition, saints row and red faction belong together.
i personally hope valve takes volition with both games and all employees. that would be great for all of them and us.
ubisoft and activision would be worse, ea worst case.
Unfortunately, Valve wasn’t even mentioned as a potential bidder. EA and Warner Brothers seem to be the two main companies that are being talked about. Ubisoft has also expressed interest in the past.
i know…
activision wasnt ether so lets hope bobby “idontlikevideogames” kotick wont get his hands on volition
i cant think of any developer belonging to warner bros…
who am i missing?
Off the top of my head, the big developers for Warner Brothers are Rocksteady (Batman Arkham City/Asylum) and Travelers Tales (LEGO games.)
sent an email to valve…
maybe it helps
the saints and the red faction need them
I doubt Valve has enough funds to buy the franchise. EA and Warner bros. have gobs of cash flow. EA alone has to be the biggest cash cow in the industry. I could see Warner Bros. buying the franchise for the movie rights alone. It will be interesting to see what happens.
Well, let’s see…. the latest Red Faction was shit.
So I don’t particularly care if we “lose” that one.
Saints, on the other hand… I don’t want Warner NOR EA to have them.
Curse you legal system and money!
I quite liked Red Faction Armageddon, though I did only pay like $5 for it and went in with low expectations.
yes armageddon was a weak one
i didn’t play red faction 1 and don’t remember much of red faction 2
but in guerilla you have to scavenge an old abandoned ultor base
so basically red faction is the future of saints row
and i would just love to see the destructible environment engine of guerilla and armageddon in a new saints row game
tearing down an enemy fortress! literally!
Yeah, that very same Ultor base is from a major plot point in Red Faction 1.
You should play RF1 sometime, it’s great.
RF1 is pretty awesome and still holds up. RF2 was kind of a stinker though. :/
actually this is good news for the pc players… lets face it guys… violition hates us pc players and generally gives no fucks if it runs at all on pc… a different publisher might actually FIX CO OP
