Trouble with Clones is out!

The final release of patch 4 officially hit Steam for TWC and I tested and confirmed that GoS still works properly. Everything seems to be working correctly, but please let me know if you run into any issues.

Make sure to create new patch files with GoS though since Trouble with Clones does overwrite both patch_compressed.vpp_pc and patch_uncompressed.vpp_pc.

I’ve been experiencing crashes ever since GiS landed – it happens with or without Gentlemen installed. here’s hoping they’ve included a fix in the update.

That’s kind of strange since I haven’t seen anyone else complain about it. Does it lockup doing certain specific things?

      • MuscleHorse says:

That’s just it – I can’t find a pattern. Sometimes I get an hour of play, sometimes two minutes. It locks up with sound/music continuing to play and I have to Ctrl-alt-del out. It’s happened over two AMD driver releases too, so I don’t think it’s down to them.

Have you tried verifying integrity yet? That is often a good first step towards troubleshooting.

Yep – I had to do it twice to even run the game after this update. I’m considering deleting it all and reinstalling.

I think they referenced your custom mission Idol–Send in the Clones.

Hey IdolNinja will you mod it so that you can use the super movement and hadouken and all that from the last mission.

Know of any glitch where all helicopters are grounded? I uninstalled the gentlemen of steelport mod and it still keeps happening

    • IdolNinja says:

You likely selected the optional mod to turn them into boats so you could customize them, then forgot to build a new version without that mod. i.e. They are still boats and can’t fly.

Idol i know this doesn’t have anything to do with this (or maybe it does) but with this update for some reason i don’t have my saves can you tell me where they are on the steam folders? Thanks

Hey IdolNinja, one of the issues I have is that the first two missions (seperately) of GIS and TWC (Faster, More Intense and Weird Science) don’t seem to go away from the missions menu – they are always at the top as if I have never even played them before. This glitch happens after one of the DLC’s is completed, and the same happens when you complete the next one. It doesn’t happen with GBVII, so I find it kinda’ weird. I have no idea whether it is a glitch left as a death present by Volition or by GOS but can you try and fix it – it is really annoying.

    • IdolNinja says:

It’s by design from Volition and how it should work. When the final mission is complete for either GiS or TwC, it resets your completion data in your save as if you have never done it. This is done transparently in the exe, so there’s nothing we can do to change that behavior. It’s how they allow the console players to have replay functionality without having a mission replay mod.

Oh also (I am posting this here because most of your other posts are locked for comments), can you try and mod the GIS and TWC weapons and outfits (for example the laser pistols, Kwilanna’s clothing, the Swarmitron etc) into the game if undone already?

    • IdolNinja says:

Volition has gone on record that there are memory constraints with how meshes are loaded and this is the reason why those guns are not available outside the dlc. I have tried almost everything I can think of to get it working and have not yet found a way.

Also, npc clothing can never be worn. It’s actually a part of the npc mesh itself (both body and clothes together in one model.) This is a different kind of setup from the sr2 engine where all clothing was separate and could be worn by either the player or npc. The reason they did this is because they could get twice as many npcs onscreen at once using this method. Unfortunately it means that the player will never be able to wear npc clothing unless Volition designs a separate clothing item based on it.
