Gentlemen of Steelport v1.0 Beta 1

While it doesn’t have everything I wanted to include for the first release, it does build asm files dynamically, and also gives you complete control over what mods you want to include.

v1.0 beta 1 changelog

Mission Replay v4 by IdolNinja, gibbed, Corrodias, luckz

Adds Mission Replay entries to the cell phone for completed missions. Replaying a mission will set the world back to that state, so it’s an easy way to toggle things on and off like zombies, stag, the statue, bridges being up or down, etc.

Known Issues:
* Some vanilla save files simply won’t work; choosing the replay in the phone does nothing. Starting a new save with the mod installed should fix the issue from that point on… maybe
* Some users have reported that the Murderbrawl mission audio plays slightly too fast on replay
* There is no cancel option for the first 2 missions. If you try to exit then it will bump you back to the main menu instead of back to the open world

Enable all Vehicle Customization and Delete Reward Vehicles by Gibbed and IdolNinja

Removes the restrictions so any car, boat, or plane can be customized. It does not work yet with helicopter class vehicles.

Known Issues:
* Selecting Rims for the Woodpecker crashes the game
* Attempting to customize helis bumps you back to the crib after it flashes a bunch of menus up

Wardrobe Color Changer by IdolNinja

Allows you to choose the color for any owned clothing in your wardrobe as if you were purchasing it.

More Cheats Smarter Cheats by Bmhur1, Flyn, IdolNinja

Adds 8 new cheats and removes the cheat flagging on many of the vanilla cheats where they don’t make sense to flag, for example zombie peds, mascot peds, weather changes, etc. There is also an optional Open version included that removes ALL cheat flagging for everything.

New Cheats:

No Hud – nohud
Change time of day – ticktock
Evil Cars – werecars
Pedestrian War – shitstorm
Giant Player – fuckimhuge
Tiny Player – sotiny

There are 2 versions of the clip editor included; with and without the hide hud option.

Sticky cam for kbam users by IdolNinja
Prevents the camera from recentering while driving

Disable Tutorials by IdolNinja

Disables all popup tutorials

Known Issues:
* Also prevents the prompt to press Y(E) to Store your Vehicles. You can still store them, the prompt just does not appear.
* Prevents Escort activity prompts from appearing. For example, “Do a powerslide for 3 seconds”

    Hey IN, just letting you know that the Ultor Interceptor’s file is different from the Specter, being “bike_jet02_veh.xtbl” instead of “bike_jet01_veh.xtbl”.

    It’s no problem to me since I can edit it myself with similar values from the first one, but you might want to add it to the mod yourself for the next beta release for everyone else.

    The sliders for fat and skinny work just like u had them for the initiation station, but muscle seems to still have the vanilla maximum.

    Everytime I press ESC or go to a shop menu the sounds of the menu happen, but the game freezes.. This happen to anyone else?

      That’s an indication that you either have other scripting mods installed, or you are not running the Steam version of SRTT. Most scripting mods will only work with the Steam release which is the only way to play the game legally.

    Can’t to get any of the plastic surgeon sliders to go past 100.
    Everything else works fine its just the super sliders that don’t seem to be there.

      Well, the sliders are not supposed to go past 100. It’s the physical look of the body feature onscreen that scales behind the scenes. For example. 100 in vanilla for forehead height would be normal, while 100 with the slider mod would be GIGANTIC. It would never show a number onscreen like 200 or 300. Also, are you sure that you manually selected that mod from the advanced menu when you created your mod set? It is not included by default.

    Yo, nice works, a thing I hate in “The Third” is that when notoriety is just 1 on gangs/police they start shooting, there is almost no unarmed fights in the game, is there a way to change that?

      I didn’t even realize that was happening, but I think you’re right. The real problem is the lack of melee weapons in the game like nightsticks.

        Yeah, if like notoriety is 1 and 2 gangs use meele weapons/knuckles
        3 – 4 pistols / smg / shotgun / ak
        5 shotgun / ak / helis with sniper and so on.

          I tired a No guns wherever possible playthrough, it worked out really well except whenever I would run over a gun it would equip it, I think some kind of auto-equip off option would be nice in the future too.

    For me the customization of vehicles other then cars does not work at all. At the helipad it shows customize and then I click it and it just dumps me back to the game and says vtol stored etc. I was hoping for more clothing items, like the decker’s specialist outfit or the stag commando outfits. Everything else works so far, are you going to add more clothing as well?

      Did you miss the part in the changelog and the known issues file which states that heli customization is not working yet?:

      Planes, boats, and dlc/unqiue cars all work correctly though with a couple of exceptions (also noted in the documentation.)

      Unlike SR2, most clothing that npcs wear is not actual clothing. It’s all one big mesh that is made up of the npcs body and clothes as one. Most of the npc clothing will never be wearable by the player with only a couple of exceptions like Cyrus’ armor and the Nyteblade outfit.

        Yes I read the part about the helis. I’m talking about same with the vtol and the vtol bikes.

        As for clothing I didn’t know that part, but I’m pretty sure the STAG commando outfit would be doable because the texture is different and it uses the same mesh as the original STAG armor. Though the NPC helmet maybe not because it might be as you stated, but the decker’s girl outfit would be hella tight to wear.

        I don’t mean to sound ungrateful, as I am very on the contrary. I know you put in a tremendous amount of work and for that I thank you. Just wondering if there’s not more that could be done as well.

          I probably should have been clearer in the docs. It’s all heli class vehicles that can’t be customized. That includes vtols and specters, and anything else that would be stored in a heli garage.

    i did all the step accept i did do the advance which i select the open cheat option nothing else.game started normally accept the game still flag when i tried to select any cheat.i tried to do this several time and try rereading the step but did not work.

    i bought mine from thq and activated in steam with two dlc all from steam. any suggestion?

      Did you manually move the file that was created in
      ..\MY_CUSTOM_SR3_MODS\
      to your SRTT install folder?

      It should have only been one file in there if you only selected cheats. i.e. cheats.xtbl

        yup..
        everything from the bike jet.xtbl to the vin doc.pc including the cheat xtbl to common/saints row the third.but still the game flags my cheat option

          You do realize that it’s not retroactive. i.e. if a save is already flagged as a cheat save then there is no way fix that (yet.) This mod is only intended for use with a clean save that is not currently cheat flagged. Using a clean save and that mod will never flag it moving forward.

    I found out a while a go that the ui pics work in escort as well it does go back to fleur de lis randomly though I’m done with this topic the only other thing is that someday this matter will be worked on

      Historically with SR2, cheats have never been something we could configure or change how they work. It looks to be the same with SR3.

    This is just a matter of curiosity, but what else did you want for this beta that didn’t end up making the cut? Basically, what’s in the works to hopefully be put in the next beta/release?

    Feel free just to say to wait for upcoming blog updates, but I’m just curious as to what’s “almost there” but didn’t make the cut.

      The big things that are coming are integrating the new clothing and weapon mods. I’m most looking forward to buyable permanent weapons like the minigun and rocket hammer, plus adding additional upgradeable levels to weapons like the taser.

          Weapon mods are going to be tricky since they all use weapons.xtbl. It’s likely going to be an all or nothing type situation.

You forgot the most important slider of em all D: Wich is the SEXAPPEAL SLIDER ofc HAHA! xD are you still working on that one or something? Will it come out in a later wertion of GOS mod or something? :) I wanna know because i like big boobs!

      Unfortunately, Sex Appeal does not work the same way as the other sliders. I have something put together that does work, but it is an inelegant and buggy solution involving forcing the changes to the slider math via scripting. So, yes. I am working on it. It’s just not ready yet.

    i have a question for Idol Ninja: you said that replaying a mission will set the world back to that state, and is a cool thing because my Saints penthouse is destroyed, and later returns to red for some strange reason, but upgrated strongholds will disappear?

      Strongholds are not affected by the replays. If they were it would mean you couldn’t use that place as a crib after a replay.

      In vanilla, the lighting turns red in the penthouse HQ after the point where STAG bombs it and it stays that way permanently. Volition forgot to reinstate the purple lighting at end game though when it’s repaired. I fixed it with the replay for the Gangstas in Space mission where it will restore the purple lighting.

        Actually I have a minor bug preventing me from advancing. The 3 count casino is displaying int he world map as a stronghold crib, but I cannot get Angel’s mask back because the casino is no longer there when i do the mission. I fall through the floor and angel dies immediately. I don;’t know if this is related to the replay option or what, but if anyone can figure out a way for me to either skip the mission, auto -complete it or reset tyhe building, I would be grateful

      SRTT is steamworks worldwide with all releases, as confirmed by Volition. If you do not play it with Steam then you are not playing it legally. Pirates will get no help here.

    I’m experiencing a major bug in my game which could be caused by this mod. When I attempt to play the mission ‘Three Count Beatdown’, the interior of the Three Count Casino does not load, making the whole thing unplayable.

        I had the same problem too, so I cross-checked the differences in the sr3 city.lua files of v3 of mission replay and apparently, there’s a chunk of code missing concerning swap zones? anyways, I just pasted that chunk into the current .lua file and the casino reloaded correctly. Hope this helps?

          That’s not what is happening, and you really should not be doing that with the sr3_city.lua, as it will break other things. The strongholds are done with a different function now in v4. Did you see the link for GoS v1.1? That should fix the issue and I’m just waiting on feedback on it.

    Wow, awesome. This is as nice as your GOtR mod package Ninja!

    I didn’t know about thes mods and am currently about 70% complete with an almost vanilla save. I installed the Porno And Murder mod, and that is amazing. Will I be able to use your mod compilation with my vanilla save? Or should I just wait until I have 100% completion then start a new save with your mod set? Note: I don’t care about mission replay as I always create many saves in my game. But other than mission replay, is there anything (or everything) in this set of compiled mods that would crash or be incompatible with the vanilla saves I have? Also, are you going to include the Porno And Murder mod in your GoS mods?

    Thanks again for continuing your amazing work!

      I’m not familiar with that particular mod, but you should be extra super careful with multiple mods. The biggest thing is to make sure that they don’t use the same .asm_pc files. If they do, then installing will fuck up all sorts of things including menus. I can’t really say either way on including it since I’m not familiar with it. I do know that it has some nudity stuff which I find to be pretty silly, so probably not.

      You should be able to install the new GoS at any point; new game, partway through, or after beating it. It shouldn’t do anything permanently weird to your save either so you could easily remove it and continue on as well with your save that you had been using with it. This will likely change with future versions as we add more things like cribs, unlocks, and clothing though that will affect your save file in different ways.

    Thanks for the fast reply! Yeah, I don’t know if it uses the same asm_pc files as I have no knowledge of what these files are. I can tell you that the way that the “nudity” mod works is you just paste the files into the main directory. I looked at the files I copied into there and one of them is called customize_player.asm_pc. So I have no idea if this would conflict with your mod set or not. I actually really like the mod, to be honest, even though it is a little bit juvenile. It creates more of a sense of “freedom” for me. Don’t get me wrong, I completely get why Volition censors nudity and I think they are 100% right for doing it. I just wanted to say that outright, but I personally think it is a pretty amazing mod, for whatever it’s worth. Not as insane as yours sounds, don’t get me wrong. I respect your desire to keep nudity out of the game even though I wish you would include it. So I won’t ask again. ;)

      That particular asm file isn’t used at all by GoS, so you’ll probably be okay with it. I may take a look at the other stuff he’s done with it then and see what’s up.

      NPCs are designed differently in SRTT then they were in SR2. Unfortunately, none of their clothing or hair can be used by the player.

    Another question: In the mod description you mention that you put the bridges down and that, of course, this would disable the final jumps. Is there a way around this? Meaning can you complete the jumps then choose an option or something to lower the bridges? Or should a player who wants to do the jumps maybe wait before installing GoS if they want to get the jumps on a save? Thanks.

      The briges are back up with Gangstas in Space. You don’t even need to complete it. Simply start the mission replay then cancel it. The world state will be changed back to its final state. :)

    Man…Idolninja, you and the rest of the Saints modders are the REAL Saints, as far as i’m concerned. You’ve not only made Saints Row 2 on pc a Lot more playable and FUN, but you’ve taken a game that I kinda feel is a huge let down compared to the second game and given me a reason to enjoy it a lot more than I probably would have if it weren’t for the modders.

    Big thanks for making the GoS mod compatible with co-op.
