There is a ton of game data in the Initiation Station to look at, and it’s been really interesting poking around in it. We’ve all been pretty surprised at just how much information from the full game that Volition has left in.
I’m currently working on getting the extended (heh) sex appeal slider morphs working in lua. Unfortunately, I hit a compression problem with the str2_pc format and its repacking so it’s not possible to test out my scripting changes (for the moment.) After some investigation, it’s also looking like the debug clothing store that is loading for the demo does have every single piece of clothing available that are in the files. Things like the Space Suit and the rest of the missing clothes are likely going to have to wait for the full release on 11/15.
Good news! Songbearer and I are teaming up to work on modding all the bikes in the game so that they are easier to stunt with. This is based on his work with the Sandstorm that was recently featured. We haven’t decided yet if it’s going to be an optional mod pack or inherent to GotR yet. It all depends how well the newly modded bikes perform in the missions like the Ronin bike chase and the Shogo cemetery one.
More news to come!
The Gentlemen of Steelport v.01 Initation Station Super Sliders alpha has been released!
The new super sliders mod greatly extends the range of the character creation sliders for the Initiation Station.
WARNING! Please do not upload any characters created with it to the Volition community site, as they will not work properly for anyone who downloads them and doesn’t have this mod.
Backup and replace the following file with the modded one in this archive:
..\steam\steamapps\common\saints row the third – initiation station\packfiles\pc\cache\misc_tables.vpp_pc
Have fun and post some screenshots! (just not to Volition’s community page, please)
Things are shaping up! All the scaling is working right and I simply need to tweak certain entries to lower the scalars to give better fine tuning values. Expect an alpha build up soon (maybe even tonight!)
Within an hour of release, gibbed has already figured out the archival format for the Initiation Station files, and built a new suite of tools for modding them. We’re all currently in chat going through everything and finding all sorts of neat stuff.
The future of Saints Row: The Third modding looks bright!
Volition confirmed the release of Initiation Station today for RFA preorders who have their codes for early access. It will be available to everyone later on 11/1!
Myself, gibbed, and a few other SR2 modders have been hanging out in group chat anxiously awaiting the release so we can start digging into the files. Gibbed is fairly certain he can have a working extractor/packer finished quickly, and if so I’m going to immediately tackle extending the character creation sliders!
