GotR v1.9 BETA7a Open Versions Ready

Open versions of all 3 build types are now available for Gentlemen of the Row v1.9 BETA 7a.

The Open versions are cheat/free versions. Everything costs $1 and is immediately available for purchase, cheats don’t flag your save, and you get almost infinite respect for just driving against oncoming traffic allowing you to play missions right away without having to bother with activities.

I was originally going to save these builds until the final release, but got quite a few requests from players so pushed them out early.

You can grab them on the beta download page if cheatin’ and rampagin’ is yo thang. Enjoy!

I went through the bitmap tilesheet xtbls and integrated the PS3 button mod into the latest beta build of GotR. You can grab it now off the Beta Downloads page:

I also cleaned up all my SR2 files on the server and created a browsable source directory that contains all of my mods, info, and save files for any modders who want to look through them. I’ll be updating the site soon with the links, but for now you can access it here:

!!!IMPORTANT!!!

An updated version of the mod has just been uploaded that fixes a serious bug where the game would crash when trying to access the thrown weapons menu. All users of the mod are urged to update immediately.

Thanks to Sweets for immediately letting me know about the bug so I could get a fix out.

And yes, I actually stayed up fixing SR2 mod bugs on Christmas Eve. I’m trying to decide if that means dedication or just stupidity. :lol:

An early Merry Christmas to all the fans of Gentlemen of the Row!

As many of you have already guessed, the present I’ve been hinting at all week is the latest and greatest build of Gentlemen of the Row v1.9!

While it’s still not the final version, it is 99.9% complete and only missing the final two custom missions which I’m working away on. This release is also important because it marks a new policy of open access to progress for the mod. From now on, all future beta releases of Gentlemen of the Row will be available to everyone for download from this site immediately on release! I like to think of this as the gift that keeps on giving all year ’round! :D

Gentlemen of the Row v1.9 Beta 6 was released to the PA group and a few close friends with 31 new logos, multi-language support, some crib changes, and a bunch of bugfixes and tweaks.

In between finishing up the new custom missions, I also worked on a few new things. TF2 spy players will be happy to know that I was finally able to reintegrate the switchblade where it now coexists with the pirate hook. In order to free up a weapons slot to use, I removed the Bulldog weapon systems and just linked them to the APC one since they are both so similar. The neat thing is that now the coop passenger in the Bulldog controls the XM8 gun and the rockets just like in the APC Bear.

I also fixed the Crowd Control activity for single player where it is no longer impossible for levels 4-6. In the original xtbl file, both single player and coop spawned the same number of crazed fans for every level. I kept the same number of fans for coop, but backed off the single player spawns to give solo players a fighting chance to actually beat it.

No promises, but… I’m also considering releasing the final beta here soon so that players can have a chance to try it out and test it instead of having to wait for my final testing to be complete. I may also just make all future beta releases public to keep things simple and get new test builds immediately into the hands of the players.

QUICKIE NINJA EDIT:
I forgot to mention that I also worked with InnocentSam today helping him out with his full zombie conversion trying to get the button mash hud to display when the zombies attack you in the prison. It’s being pretty stubborn but we did make some progress. More details soon.

GotR v1.8 multi-language version

I received confirmation that the new multi-language build of v1.8 is working correctly for Spanish. If anyone wants to give this a test for other languages, you can grab it here:

The supported languages are:

  • CH Switzerland?
  • CZ Czech
  • DE German (may possibly have issues since the German release is cut)
  • DK Danish
  • EN English
  • ES Spanish
  • FR French
  • IT Italian
  • JP Japanese
  • NL Dutch
  • PL Polish
  • RU Russian
  • SE Swedish?
  • SK Slovak

In theory, it should automatically choose the correct language strings based on your Operating System language. Some additional text that was added in to GotR by me (unlocks, characters, cheats, etc) will still be in English, but the majority of the game (menus, subtitles, etc) should default to your correct language.

Languages, Adverts, and Logos

It looks like I may have successfully created a multi-language version of GotR that will use menus and subtitles in the language that your OS is set to (if they exist in the game.) This would mean that only one version of GotR would ever be needed for any language. I have a test version linked to a couple of players to test with. If it works, then I’ll be posting up links on the download page.

I also threw together some new logos in between testing and tweaking the new custom missions. I should also mention that the idea for the counterstrike headshot logo was from InnocentSam. I couldn’t find his original peg though, so recreated it.
